| New Facilities Unveiled |
|
Bedlington Terriers finally put years of frustration behind them on Saturday when a new toilet block for matchdays was opened. Chairman David Holmes had promised early in his reign that Welfare Park would be given new facilities over time, and he has duly delivered. A summer facelift has brought many compliments and it shows the progress the club is making. It was hoped that the toilets would not have taken so long, but with Wansbeck Council letting the club down on several occassions, the club could not wait any longer and went ahead with the project alone. "For something so trivial, you would not believe the amount of angst these toilets have caused" commented Holmes. "The previous facilities were a real problem and we quickly got rid of them as they were an eyesore. There have been plenty of comments in the past about the troubles we had with Wansbeck Council so we eventually decided to go it alone. It was unfair to expect our supporters and visiting supporters to use the facilities they were asked to use and its with great relief that the new toilet block is finally in place. A lot of hard work has gone into these and we are delighted to finally get be able to provide facilities for supporters outside of the clubhouse".
